Gustavo Dominguez was sentenced to three consecutive life terms after being found guilty of first-degree murder charges in connection with the Young Park mass shooting.
According to Christy French, Deputy Court Clerk for Douglas Driggers, Gustavo Dominguez was sentenced to 90 years in jail on Friday, September 11, for his role in the 2025 Young Park mass shooting that killed three people and injured several more.
Dominguez, who was 17 at the time of the massacre, was tried as an adult and convicted of three first-degree murder charges in the mass shooting, which killed three teens and injured more than a dozen others.
The family of Dominick Estrada, one of the victims slain in the incident, spoke to the court and Dominguez at the sentencing hearing, according to the Dona Ana County District Attorney’s Office.
“We’ll never see him stroll through the doors with that huge, gorgeous smile. Dominick Estrada’s family said, “We will never be able to hug him.” “You shattered an entire family and deserve life behind bars.”
Three other individuals were convicted in connection with the incident.
In February, juries found two brothers, Tomas and Nathan Rivas, guilty of three counts of first-degree murder.
In April, a jury convicted Josiah Ontiveros, 15, on three charges of first-degree murder but found him not guilty of conspiracy.
Driggers condemned Tomas Rivas to 90 years in jail on Friday, July 31. The sentence consists of three consecutive life terms, each lasting 30 years. Rivas was the first of four defendants condemned for the March 2025 Young Park mass shooting case.”Gustavo Dominguez acted without remorse, hesitation, or regard for human life,” stated District Attorney Fernando Macias.
Nathan Rivas will be sentenced on October 9, 2026, and Josiah Ontiveros on September 30, 2026. Macias is seeking 90-year sentences for the two remaining defendants.
“We are committed to seeking justice for all the lives that were taken and the families whose lives were forever changed,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Spencer Willson. “Our office will continue to pursue accountability for those responsible.”
