A woman was killed after being hit by a car Sunday afternoon in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. in the 8200 block of North Broadway.

Police said the incident occurred after the woman, 80-year-old Beulah Brandon, exited her vehicle on an incline on North Broadway. At some time, the vehicle began rolling backward, trapping Brandon between the open driver’s-side door and the vehicle.

Brandon was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, but she eventually died of her injuries. The investigation is underway.
