Tragic Two-Vehicle Collision Reported in Linn County
A devastating crash in Linn County claimed the lives of two women on Saturday evening, according to Oregon State Police.
Authorities responded to the scene around 6:43 p.m. on April 11 along Highway 34 near milepost 14 following reports of a serious two-vehicle collision.
Hydroplaning Suspected as Cause of Crash
Preliminary investigations indicate that a gray Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 55-year-old woman from Sweet Home, was traveling westbound when it hydroplaned.
The vehicle reportedly lost control, crossed into the opposite lane, and collided with an eastbound blue BMW driven by a 31-year-old woman from Lebanon.
Victims Identified by Authorities
Officials confirmed that:
- Ashley Sue Fraley (31) was pronounced dead at the scene
- Kayla Marie Fonseca (35), a passenger in the Hyundai, also died at the scene
The driver of the Hyundai survived the crash but sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The crash led to significant disruptions along Highway 34, which remained partially closed for approximately four hours as emergency crews conducted their investigation.
