Open House Invites Community Feedback

Residents are invited to share their input on proposed bike and pedestrian improvements in north Corvallis, as Benton County partners with the Oregon Department of Transportation to advance planning efforts.

An in-person open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on April 28 at Letitia Carson Elementary School. Attendees can explore project updates, review design options, and provide feedback. An online version of the open house will remain available through May 15.

Project Aims to Improve Connectivity

The initiative focuses on creating safer, more accessible routes for walking, biking, and rolling across a busy part of the city. The area includes schools, residential neighborhoods, businesses, recreational spaces, and Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, the region’s largest hospital.

Officials say the long-term goal is to build a network of shared-use paths connecting communities across north Corvallis.

Two Key Bridge Proposals Under Review

Plans include constructing two new bridges:

  • One over Jackson Creek as part of a proposed pathway linking Corvallis to Adair Village
  • Another spanning OR 99W and nearby railroad tracks to connect the medical center with the Cheldelin neighborhood

County commissioners previously recommended advancing specific alignment options for further study during a 2025 work session.

Project Still in Planning Phase

While the project has moved into the design stage, officials note that construction funding has not yet been secured.

Community feedback gathered through the open house and online platform will help shape final recommendations and future decisions.
