Gunfire Erupts Near Popular Nightspot

Three people were injured in a shooting outside the  River Pig Saloon in Portland’s Pearl District early Monday morning, according to police and the bar’s owner.

The incident unfolded around 12:30 a.m. on Northwest 13th Avenue when a vehicle pulled up and two individuals got out, opening fire on a group of four people walking nearby.

Victims Struck Inside and Outside the Bar

According to the bar’s owner, gunfire not only targeted people outside but also penetrated the building. Bullets reportedly went through the door, striking individuals who were seated inside.

Portland police confirmed that three people suffered gunshot wounds, though all injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

Suspects Still at Large

Authorities have not made any arrests, and no suspect descriptions have been released. The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to determine the motive behind the shooting.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue gathering evidence.

Bar Linked to Previous Violence

This marks the second violent incident tied to the bar in recent months. In December, a woman reported being stabbed while leaving the establishment. A suspect was later arrested and charged in that case.

The injured woman has since filed a lawsuit, alleging the bar and its security team failed to address ongoing safety concerns.

Owner Calls for Increased Safety Measures

Bar owner Ramzy Hattar expressed concern over the recent violence, noting that such incidents had historically been rare over the business’s nearly 15 years in operation.

He is now advocating for increased police presence and even suggested closing Northwest 13th Avenue to vehicle traffic to improve safety for patrons and nearby businesses.

Rising Crime in the Pearl District

Recent police data shows an uptick in violent crime in the Pearl District. Aggravated assaults in the area rose significantly in 2025 compared to previous years, reflecting a broader trend that has raised concerns among residents and business owners alike.
