Two teenage boys were apprehended after an early-morning police chase through Cadillac ended on train tracks, according to authorities.
The incident began at 1 a.m. Monday, when a police officer spoke with two teenage boys near North Mitchell and River streets. Officers identified one of the teens as a reported runaway, but later established that he had permission to spend the night at a friend’s home.
About two hours later, around 3 a.m., officers were notified of a breaking-and-entering complaint involving the same suspects.
When Michigan State Police troopers and Wexford County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop the suspects in a car, they fled.
The chase entered Cadillac via M-55 and proceeded into downtown. According to police, the vehicle failed to turn from Lake Street into Cass Street and ended up on railway tracks after driving through a grassy area.
The vehicle was able to continue along Lake Street before eventually coming to rest in the grass near Pine Street.
Both teenage suspects were taken into custody following the pursuit. Authorities have not released their identities because of their ages.
There were no injuries recorded during the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, and potential charges have not yet been announced.
