A 36-year-old behavioral therapist now faces assault and child abuse charges after law enforcement officials allege that he tied a scarf around the neck of a 4-year-old boy during a therapy session held at a daycare facility.
Authorities booked Joseph Kosse on charges of second-degree assault and child abuse, classified as a class one misdemeanor, as detailed in an arrest affidavit.
The alleged incident occurred in a spare classroom at Springs of Life Children’s Center on Academy Place during nap time. Daycare administrators confirmed that they had authorized private therapy sessions on-site through Grace Way Collective Behavioral Therapy, under a formal arrangement established with the child’s family.
According to an incident report and staff statements obtained by KRDO13, the facility’s assistant director heard the boy crying and entered the room to investigate the situation.
