An inebriated Silver Springs man was taken into custody early Sunday morning after allegedly shooting a revolver outside his mother’s home when his truck failed to start.
According to the arrest report, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies rushed to a home on Fisher Way in Ocklawaha around 4 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, after receiving reports of shots being fired in the vicinity.
A female victim informed deputies that her 25-year-old son, Arcain Blake Hall, had spent the night at her house when he became “highly intoxicated” and attempted to drive to a nearby Waffle House. When a broken key kept his Ford Ranger from starting, Hall allegedly became upset, took out his Ruger 57 revolver, and fired several shots into the ground.
According to the victim’s account, she “locked (Hall) outside the home” before bringing all of the residents into the master bedroom. She contacted 911 a few moments later.
Hall reportedly started hammering on the front door and eventually kicked it in, causing around $350 in frame damage. According to the report, a security camera inside the kitchen caught Hall wandering through the house, shouting at the homeowners for shutting him out, and exiting through a rear sliding glass door.
An MCSO K-9 team successfully traced Hall to a nearby location, where he was apprehended. According to one of the responding deputies, Hall had “vomited all over himself”, and he had a “very strong odour of alcoholic beverages on his breath”.
After being informed of his Miranda rights, Hall reportedly agreed to being “hammered”. He also allegedly admitted to firing a revolver into the earth because he thought the victim and other occupants had stolen his truck’s keys.
According to the article, Hall claimed during the post-Miranda interview that he kicked down the front door and grabbed a pack of cigarettes while inside the house.
Deputies reportedly located four 5.7x28mm brass shot casings in the yard, as well as a pistol wedged between Hall’s truck’s driver’s seat and centre console. According to the complaint, Hall refused to allow law officials to remove the firearm from his vehicle, requiring deputies to get a search warrant.
Hall was arrested and brought into Marion County Jail on misdemeanour counts of shooting a weapon on residential property, using a firearm while intoxicated, and criminal mischief causing less than $1,000 in property damage.
According to jail records, Hall was freed the next day after posting bond, and a court date has yet to be established.
