Two women have been taken into custody on charges of helping a man accused of attempted murder in the shootout involving three Richland County sheriff’s deputies, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.

Alicia Magwood, 46, and Arrington Jones, 17, turned themselves in on Monday and were accused of assisting Sireon Beaufort following the June 4 shootout with deputies.

Jones, who prosecutors claim has a child with Beaufort, is charged as an adult with accessory after the fact to a felony.

Jones’ mother, Magwood, has been charged with accessory after the fact of a felony, contributing to a minor’s delinquency, possession of a Schedule I-IV drug, and possession of a stolen firearm.

On June 29, 2026, Magwood and Jones surrendered to the RCSD’s Fugitive Task Force for warrants for assisting Beaufort following the shooting.

Authorities claim Magwood and Jones drove Beaufort back to the location several hours after the shooting to search for a backpack containing firearms allegedly used in the attack.

Deputies had previously recovered the bag as evidence, according to officials.

Authorities say the next day, Magwood and Jones drove Beaufort to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department offices, where he surrendered.

During a check of their vehicle, deputies discovered drugs and a stolen weapon, according to officials.

Both were lodged in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and are awaiting bond hearings.

Sade Grooms, 41, has also been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Authorities said they learned Grooms, the mother of a 16-year-old detained in connection with the event, had a habit of not taking responsibility for her son and was aware of his criminal activity but did not intervene.

Deputies responded shortly after midnight to reports of shots fired in the 200 block of Sagamore Road. There were no reported injuries, although gunshots impacted a residence and numerous vehicles.

Around 1:50 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of Spring Oak Drive, where another residence had been hit.

A K-9 team followed a scent from the scene to a home in the 300 block of Legend Oaks.

Authorities claim that as deputies identified themselves and issued commands, several persons outside the home opened fire with rifles and handguns.

Deputies returned fire and took shelter as the suspects continued to shoot from several directions. Deputies engaged with gunfire until other units arrived.

The investigation is underway.
