A reported burglary and safe-cracking in Newton Township led investigators to the recovery of stolen firearms and the arrests of two people.
On Thursday, Licking County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a burglary, safe-cracking, and handgun theft at a residence on Mt. Vernon Road in Newton Township at 6 p.m. Hydie L. Woltz, a Newark resident, was swiftly recognized as a person of interest and located at a home on High Street in Newark.
Detectives interviewed Woltz, who said that her nephew, Aden Ginnery, had the stolen guns in his possession.
Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office deputies tracked down Ginnery in Zanesville in the black Ford SUV he was alleged to be driving.
Ginnery was detained when cops conducted a traffic stop.
During their investigation of the vehicle, officers discovered the stolen firearms and magazines, which they collected as evidence.
Both Woltz and Ginnery were arrested and sent to the Licking County Justice Center.
Woltz is charged with burglary, safe-cracking, and handgun theft, while Ginnery was detained for receiving stolen property.
The Licking County Sheriff’s Office is still looking into the event.
