Woman accused of driving wrong way and nearly causing multiple crashes in Eugene faces DUII and reckless driving charges

A 33-year-old woman from Washington state was arrested in Eugene after allegedly driving the wrong way on a one-way street, swerving into oncoming traffic, and nearly causing multiple collisions while operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Eugene Police Department received several reports at approximately 5:13 p.m. on October 25 regarding a Ford Maverick being operated in a dangerous and erratic manner. One caller specifically reported that the driver appeared to be falling asleep at the wheel.

Authorities subsequently located the vehicle in a parking lot in the 4100 block of West 11th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the Ford Maverick high-centered on a barrier with two of its wheels lifted off the ground.

The driver, identified as Emily Lorene Pollock of Vancouver, Washington, informed officers that she had been attempting to reach the McDonald Theatre to attend a concert. She stated that she had departed from her Airbnb on Polk Street but was unable to explain how she arrived at the location where officers found her vehicle.

According to the Eugene Police Department, Pollock declined to perform field sobriety tests but consented to a breathalyzer examination. The test recorded her blood alcohol concentration at 0.23%, nearly three times Oregon’s legal limit of 0.08% for adult drivers.

Officers additionally recovered two empty bottles of hard alcohol from inside the vehicle.

Pollock was subsequently arrested and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.
