Nationwide Weekend Sweep Nets Convicted Felons As Federal Agents Make Arrests Across Country

Federal immigration authorities conducted nationwide enforcement operations over the weekend, resulting in the arrest of individuals previously convicted of violent crimes and sexual offenses, the Department of Homeland Security announced on Monday.

The operations specifically targeted noncitizens with prior convictions in state and federal courts for serious felonies, including homicide, child sexual abuse, rape, armed robbery, and racketeering.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin publicly commended the operations, underscoring the agency’s enforcement priorities and its legal mandate to uphold immigration law.

“While Americans enjoyed their weekends, the brave patriots of ICE were working around the clock to arrest the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from our communities, including murderers, pedophiles, and rapists,” Mullin said in a statement. “Sanctuary politicians do not change ICE’s mission nor its obligation to enforce the law. Every crime committed by an illegal alien is 100% preventable.”
