Community members gathered in Eugene to celebrate International Women’s Day with a rally focused on unity, empowerment and social change.

The event was part of the global “Brave Women” series connected to the Women’s March, highlighting the role of women’s advancement in building stronger communities.

Elizabeth Rust, who leads the Women’s Rights Action Team for Indivisible Eugene-Springfield, said events like the rally are important to ensure women’s voices are included in important discussions.

Speakers from several groups took part in the event, including members of Students for Choice at the University of Oregon and Lisa Fragala.

Local nonprofits and community organizations shared their perspectives on current political issues while encouraging unity and equal treatment.

Members of Raging Grannies also participated, performing songs celebrating women’s strength and their allies.

Organizers said the rally aimed to strengthen community connections and continue conversations about women’s rights and equality beyond a single day.
